A Sur-Ron Hall sensor (or Hall effect sensor) is a small electronic component located inside the electric motor that measures magnetic fields. Its main task is to accurately transmit information about the position of the motor's rotor to the motorcycle's controller.

Sur-Ron uses a brushless DC (BLDC) motor. Unlike older generation motors, this motor needs to precisely know which electromagnets to activate and at which millisecond for the motor to operate efficiently.
